It should be noted that the Fibreglass boat copes more easily with a winch post that is more laid back,as opposed to a aluminium boat with a towing eye where a more vertical post gets the roler in the right position.
Components…. the Snares
These are to mount on the towing eye of aluminium boats.There are two types……
Standard Size
Heavy Duty Size
The Standard size is for use on boats up to 6.5M (21’)
The Heavy Duty Snare is for boats over 6.5M (21’) ORboats subjected to extremely heavy workloads.
Fixings with the Standard L & RTM towing eye Snare are 2x12mm bolts with nuts, washers and spacer sleeves.
Fixings with the Standard L & RTM towing eye Snare are 2x16mm bolts (16x50 mm) with nuts, washers and spacer sleeves.

For use on boats up to 6.5M (21’)
For use on boats up to 6.5M (21’) OR boat subjected to very high workloads and rough conditions.

The roller doesnot reach outfar enough to stop the boat
Components…. Options
Used where the roller needs to be able to project out furtherto the bow. More commonly required on Towing Eye (Aluminium) boats. This is a straight bolt on option avoiding drilling, cutting etc. These are 4 adjustable positions plus tilt.You need to add six M12 galvanised bolts with washers and nylon locking nuts.

Note - Rope Diverter for old version of Aluminium Snare
Avoiding rope catching up between snare and bowIf the snare is mounted on the boat and there is a gap that a rope can be caught in occasionally (especially if a thin rope is used) then here is a way to avoid this issue.
This uses a piece of stiff plastic tube - see details here.
Aluminium Boat Snare
The new version of the Aluminium boat snare is easier to fit, does not need hole drilling, and located with 2 large bolts. It is also stronger.Two sleeves/spacers are provided.
Use one for the bottom hole and the other where there is room.You do not have to use both.Use washers between the snare sides and the towing eye, so you can tighten against the aluminium surface.The lowest possible position is usually the best option.Note - in North Americait is quite common for aluminium boats to have U-bolts, like the fibreglass boats. Where this is the case use a Fibreglass Snare.
